Nominated for the Bavarian Innovation Award 2022!

Recognition for outstanding innovations

Great: Our QFire has been nominated for the Bavarian Innovation Award 2022!

The award ceremony will take place in Augsburg in November - please keep your fingers crossed for us!

Using the customized QFire BIG fireman's switch as a central emergency shutdown for PV systems

Especially in buildings with increased safety requirements, such as schools, it is essential to be able to safely switch off the photovoltaic system's direct current lines running through the building in an emergency or during maintenance work.

The inverters can be switched off on the AC side, and there is also a DC disconnect switch on the inverter - but the line between the modules and the inverter remains energized.

In the event of a fire or other damage to the building - e.g. due to a storm - there would otherwise be no guarantee that these cables, which can carry >1,000 VDC, would be de-energized. It is also not easy to switch off such high DC voltages. There is a risk of electric arcing and thus a fire!

The QFire Big safely switches off such lines at the building entrance. This can be done by simply switching off the AC supply or by using an emergency stop switch or control switch. With the QFire switch box, the entire building can be de-energized with just one switch. State-of-the-art relays ensure arc-free switching.

In addition, everything that is necessary in a modern generator connection box can be integrated in the QFire BIG. This means that costs can be saved.

Optionally, the following can be evaluated with the QFire

- System status (on/off)

- Last event message, e.g. system shutdown due to power failure

- Triggered overvoltage protection

- String current

- Temperature

Arc detection and automatic switch-off (under development)

The evaluation of the system status and the overvoltage protection can be displayed via simple indicator lights. Optionally, all evaluations can be transmitted to a higher-level control system via data transfer (LoRA, WLAN, etc.).

About the Innovation Award

The Bavarian Innovation Award was launched in 2012 as a joint initiative of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Association of Bavarian Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Association of Bavarian Chambers of Skilled Crafts and is awarded every two years.

The Bavarian Innovation Award is presented in recognition of outstanding innovative achievements. Prizes are awarded for product and process innovations as well as innovative technology-oriented services that are already characterized by initial market success or whose market success is foreseeable.
